social distance club is located in chinatown, manhattan. it’s best known for its drag performances and being the largest covid-19 testing center in the world.
upon arrival, the door-person wearing a hazmat suit will greet you and scan your club member card, which contains your dna sequence.
sdc reserves the right to deny entry to anyone.
parked around the block is the mobile lab, a 24/7 covid-19 testing unit, which at first glance may be mistaken for a halal cart.
there, a lab tech will take a swab of your saliva. this is used to run a pcr test, which checks your dna for the presence of any viral sars-cov-2 sequences.
after a few minutes, you’ll be handed a sealed envelope. in it is a printed copy of your test results, an ethereum address where your results are digitally stored, and your club member card. if you ask nicely, the lab tech will give you a face mask. each test costs a suggested donation of $6.
monday night at sdc is open mic. wednesday is lesbian and gay night. friday is guest list only.
saturday is the most popular night at the club. only those who’ve tested positive for covid-19 and are not presenting flu-like symptoms are permitted to enter. cover is $150. this includes a complimentary clothes check and a free cocktail. maximum capacity is 500 persons, so it’s recommended you arrive early. after 11:11pm, if you leave the club, you may not re-enter.
sdc is closed on tuesday, thursday, and sunday for cleaning.
